The Beacon Hill campsite is owned by the Horsham Scout District and is managed on its behalf by a management committee. The campsite itself covers 14.5 hectares (36 acres) and is situated in natural woodland on the outskirts of Horsham, close to Colgate forest. The campsite comprises of a hut with kitchen and toilets. The hut may be used as overnight accommodation. There are several camping areas and a large field and woodland areas for games etc., a campfire circle and separate quiet area for personal reflection and Scouts Own. Each of the Horsham Groups has their own designated campsite for which they are responsible. There is also a nature trail to explore.
The campsite is ideal for teaching young people basic camping skills such as bivouacking and backwoods cooking and lends itself to camps of any duration. The hut is often used for Beaver sleepovers. The campsite is close to local amenities and leisure centres, being nearly equi-distant from both Horsham and Crawley town centres. Canoeing is available at both the nearby Southwater and Tilgate lakes. London and the South coast are accessible by train from Horsham and Crawley stations and via express trains from Three Bridges.
